Chance of protestors leads Hickory officials to cancel gay pride event

As political protests can fairly easily result in violence and public unrest, experienced security personnel equipped with reliable technology, such as the Motorola PR400, Mag One BPR40 and two-way radio batteries are imperative to keep all in attendance safe.

To ensure personnel can handle any type of physical violence, Motorola football headsets, temple transducer headsets and two-way radio earpieces can be especially useful. For added security measures, the Motorola PMLN4606, a two-wire surveillance kit, can help organizers and personnel stay on the same page and respond effectively in the event of a security threat.

Officials in Hickory, North Carolina, recently issued a preemptive cancellation of a gay pride event to avoid what they believed would be potentially dangerous protests, WSOCTV reports. The Catawba Valley Pride organizers of the event have not given up and are continuing to search to find a new location to host the event, which the group predicts will draw more than 800 attendees, the news provider added.

The event, which was supposed to take place at the Hickory Crawdad stadium, was halted by city officials after venue officials told city officials it might cause protests.
